Cranleigh proclaims itself as the largest village in England
The parish church of St Nicolas was built in the fourteenth century though was significantly restored in 1847
In 1865 the railway station opened in the village, using the village's name of 'Cranley'. The spelling was subsequently changed to that of 'Cranleigh' by the Post Office to stop confusion with nearby 'Crawley' in West Sussex. The station was closed in 1965 and demolished to make way for the Stocklund Square development
