Shepperton is a town in the borough of Spelthorne in Surrey, bounded by the River Thames to the south. The town was a parish in the Staines Rural District of Middlesex between 1894 and 1930, after which it became part of the Sunbury-on-Thames Urban District. Shepperton's name comes from Shepherd's Town', which is reflected in the names of some the older street in Shepperton, such as 'Sheep Walk'
The town is famous for its Shepperton Film Studios at which a popular wedding fair is staged. Films including Harry Enfield's 'Kevin and Perry Go Large' and Carol Reed's 'The Third Man' were made there
The town is mentioned in the Domesday Book as 'Scepertone', which, at the time, was held by Westminster Abbey
